The Pointe of Ballet Shoes

Ballet shoes, also called ballet slippers by many dancers, are shoes designed solely for ballet dancing.  Due to the motions of ballet dancers and the complicated steps and routines they must perform, the shoes must be extremely lightweight.  Often they are made from soft leather and canvas, or even from satin. Their soles are very thin and flexible.  These shoes are sometimes mistaken for the more advanced ballet shoes called pointes, or “toe shoes.”

Take Care This Summer

When summer comes along, that typically means that dancers audition to perfect their art even more so at intense summer sessions in large cities.  It is more than admirable that you did forego your sweet summer vacation in order to learn more and improve upon your talents, but for some, these training sessions may cause some worries.  This holds especially true in the event that you have an injury, become tired physically, become overwhelmed, or even disappointed.  When these challenges and worries come about, if you know how to properly handle them, you will still get the most out of your training.  So learn how to deal with these things, and you will be good to go, for sure.
